Siddhaveda

The Siddha System of Medicine is the foremost of all other medical systems in the world. It originated in South India. . In Siddha tradition, there are 18 renowned Siddhars, who laid the foundation of the tradition of which Sage Agastya Muni is considered as the first Siddha and guru of the tradition. The word Agastya can be translated as someone who is sitting inside. It implies that there is a sage within everybody whose amazing potential can be unleashed by practicing Siddha Yoga.

The uniqueness of Siddha System is evident by its continuous service to the humanity combating diseases while many of its contemporaries became extinct long ago. Siddhars through their yogic powers explored the world and within. They understood the powers within an individual that usually lay dormant and developed techniques to activate it. Also, using the yogic powers they unravelled the healing potential of plants, metals, minerals and animal products. Their knowledge of the properties of drugs and their clinical application were preserved in the form of verses and passed on to their disciples. The deep understanding of various processes taking place in the human body made the Yogis natural healers, who always helped the society in combating diseases.
